[UNDP] : Communication

UNDP Office has organized internship programme to provide a framework by which students from diverse academic backgrounds may be assigned to UNDP offices, where their educational experience can be enhanced through practical work assignments as well providing an opportunity to make substantive contributions to an office’s work. The current internship will provide opportunity for student to learn some aspects of Innovative Financing Lab (IFL), such as gender mainstreaming, climate action, SDGs investment, entrepreneurship and overall work of sustainable development finance, as well as aid effectiveness, donor relations, monitoring and evaluation of development programme, gender, capacity development, and South-South Cooperation. The internship will also focus specifically towards digital communications to promote and raise awareness of current IFL activities through website and social media coordination, production and engagement. Summary of Key Responsibilities:

  • Support in the development and implementation of communication plans.

  • Collaborate in planning, monitoring and reporting of communication activities;

  • Support in planning and organizing campaigns, press conferences, briefing sessions, and other events;

  • Contribute and ensure the visibilities of events, campaigns and key activities;

  • Assist in media outreach, media inquiries, monitoring and maintaining press clippings of print and online media when UNDP Innovative Financing Lab is mentioned;

  • Support in developing communication materials, such as posters, infographics/releases, media articles, fact sheets, briefing materials, etc;

  • Manage IFL website content management and update;

  • Draft stories and web articles;

  • Maintenance of information database and photo library;

  • Review translations, contact with printers and other suppliers to ensure production;

  • Draft, prepare, and schedule content and posts for the social media accounts in coordination with IFL team;

  • Research additional content (articles/ news/ posts) and draft the post.

  • Manage, engage, and actively expand the network of followers.

  • Monitor IFL social media accounts (twitter, instagram), monitor questions and comments, mentions, and cross-post selected content.

  • Create, produce or support the production visual assets (quote cards, multi-media graphics, social media video, etc).

  • Support live tweeting from events

  • Undertake general administrative assignments and logistical support;

  • Assist any other relevant duties as may be assigned.

Outputs:

  • Effective support for Innovative Financing Lab activities.

  • Production of documents (research, concept notes/proposal, TORs, report, etc).

  • Administrative management of events hosted by Innovative Financing Lab.

  • Inputs for the existing database is regularly provided.


Minimum Qualifications

Functional Competencies: 1. Special Skills Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience in writing and production of documents.

  • Demonstrated experience in developing media and communication products.

  • Core competencies: commitment, drive for results, and integrity.

  • Functional competencies:

    • Knowledge of social media and communication strategies and methods;

    • Ability to create, edit and present information in clear and presentable formats;

    • Good event planning skills;

    • Ability to identify relevant events and stories and communicate them to a mass audience;

    • Good multimedia skills.


  • Familiarity with Government and UN/UNDP procedures would be desirable.

  • Previous experience in Indonesia is an asset.

  • Ability to share knowledge and experiences and to provide advice to colleagues.

Recruitment Qualifications:

  • Enrolment in a university degree or fresh graduate from program in Communication, Visual Communication Design, Media Studies, Journalism, Humanities, International relations, Social sciences or other related fields

  • Relevant knowledge and experience in working with website content management and social media management and monitoring: Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, etc

  • Experience in event management, online outreach and multimedia would be an asset;

  • Experience in design, photo, video editing software would be an asset.

  • Understanding of gender equality and women’s human rights would be an asset;

  • Proficiency in English.

  • Computer literate in standard software applications.

  • Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the UN, and of UNDP in particular, and have a personal commitment to UNDP's Statement of Purpose and to the ideals of the UN Charter.

  • Demonstrated the ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

  • An interest in global mobility; adaptability to varied physical and other environments; a desire to work with and gain the confidence and respect of people with different language, national and cultural backgrounds.

Financial Issues: Interns will receive monthly stipend from UNDP Indonesia. All costs connected with an intern's participation in the Programme must be borne by:

  • The nominating institution, related institution or government, which may provide the required financial assistance to its students;

  • The intern, who will have to obtain financing for subsistence and make his/her own arrangements for travel (including to and from the office), visas, accommodation, etc.
