GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF TASK(S) AND OBJECTIVES TO BE ACHIEVED The Visual Communication Specialist shall operate under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Indonesia, the general supervision of the Emergency Centre for Transboundary Animal Diseases Operations (ECTAD) Programme Team Leader in Indonesia, and direct supervision of the Country National Veterinary Advisor.
Working in close consultation and coordination with the IEC team and other members of the ECTAD Indonesia team, FAO Indonesia Communication team, government counterparts, donors, and implementing partners, the incumbent will be responsible for providing visual communication materials support to the FAO/GOI ECTAD Indonesia Programme, Indonesia:
Specific responsibilities will include:
Asses the ECTAD visual design materials
Develop and conceive ECTAD visual strategy base on the assessment, in line with the FAO visual guideline.
Produce derivative FAO ECTAD Indonesia/ GHSP Visual Communication materials using eye-catching and non- technical audience-friendly narrative infographics, leaflets, video or other data visualization techniques
Recommend appropriate titles of these derivative FAO ECTAD Indonesia/ EPT 2 communication materials, ensuring to catch the attention of the widest audience among FAO ECTAD stakeholders and general public.
Present visual communication materials to FAO ECTAD Indonesia/GHSP stakeholders.
Identify training requirements and conduct training for ECTAD/GoI staff on the preparation and use of visual communication materials
Coordinate and produce videos for online distribution on YouTube and social media
Capture still and video footage
Manage storage and backup of all ECTAD/EPT 2 communication materials
Perform other duties to fulfill visual communications objectives as requested by ECTAD team leader
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS Expected Outputs:
1) Effective visual communication materials designed for the ECTAD Indonesia programme 2) Public outreach materials available, using eye-catching and user-friendly narrative infographics, leaflets, video or other data visualization techniques;
3) Cataloged communication visual materials database available for use by FAO ECTAD programme staff
4) Visual communication materials edited and published to agreed specifications.
5) Camera and other A/V equipment maintained in good working order
EQUIRED COMPETENCIES Academic Qualifications: Bachelor degree in visual communications, visual arts, advertising, graphic design or related fields Technical Competencies and Experience Requirements:
Proficiency in Photoshop, InDesign;
Familiarity with at least two of the following video software packages: Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro, Vegas Pro;
Familiarity with at least one of the following vector software packages: CorelDraw, Illustrator;
Good written and spoken English and Bahasa Indonesia;
Familiarity with social media visual contents (such as e-flyer, short videos, reels, etc)
Ability to implement FAO’s corporate guideline and different partner organisations’ corporate guidelines on creative and engaging visual communication products;
Photography skill is an asset;
Minimum of three (5) consecutive years’ experience in related field;
Familiarity with agriculture, animal health or global health issues is an asset;
Possess good interpersonal and communication skills;
Ability to work on multiple tasks with time pressure;
Ability to work in a multi- cultural environment with sensitivity and respect to diversity; and
Ability to work with minimum supervision.
