Job Description
Panagora Group, a small, woman-owned business providing novel and integrated solutions in global health and international development, is supporting USAID/Indonesia to implement its new Country Development Cooperation Strategy (CDCS) through a Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Platform (MEL-P) Activity. MEL-P provides its services through five components: 1) monitoring support services, 2) designing and conducting performance and impact evaluations, 3) providing research, assessment, and data analysis, 4) providing consulting and advisory services and logistical support services, and 5) initiating collaboration, learning, and adapting activities. Along with enhancing MEL capability, we also promote use of the empirical evidence for programming, learning, and adapting as USAID supports the Government of Indonesia (GOI). Indonesia MEL-P is supporting USAID/Indonesia, Office of DOC with recruitment of a Development Outreach and Communications Writer and Editor. Scope of Work MEL-P recruiting a Development Outreach and Communications Writer/Editor for USAID Indonesia Office to support the Development Outreach and Communications team. The DOC Writer/Editor will be responsible for the following: USAID External Communications
Draft and finalize Sector Fact Sheet and Indonesia Country Profile.
Together with the DOC Assistant, update the USAID/Indonesia website to reflect the latest mission information including updating sector pages, photos, and other elements of the web page.
Draft and finalize Mission Mega Talkers and create a special fact sheet and country profile based on this Climate Change country profile model USAID’s priorities (COVID 19, Democracy and Human Rights, and Global Health)
Together with the lead of the Provincial Management Team, draft and finalize Provincial Fact Sheet and High-level key message and talking points documents for 8 USAID priority provinces - priorities at the moment are South Sulawesi and East Java
USAID Interagency and Internal Communications
Supporting the DOC Team Lead in responding to potential communications and outreach-related taskers from interagency and Washington. This may include but is not limited to requests for communications assets such as videos, stories, social media, photos, fact sheets, and talking points.
Supporting the DOC Team Lead in pitching stories to be published on USAID’s HQ outreach platforms.
Liaise with Public Affairs on clearances and publications on press materials.
USAID Implementing Partners’ Communications
Supporting the DOC Team in reviewing communications products sent to the DOC team for quality and adherence to USAID’s branding and marking policy, including but not limited to banners, posters, press materials, stories, video script, video mockups, and final version of the videos.
Supporting the DOC Team in liaising with Technical Offices and Activities to draft and finalize success stories and other communications materials including videos, social media content, and exposure stories
Supporting the DOC Team in liaising with Technical Offices and activities’ communications team for event management and press engagement involving USAID’s leadership.
Requirements
Bachelor's (or equivalent) degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field to the statement of duties is required.
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in one of the following fields is required: marketing, public relations, journalism, social media, and/or communications. Prior experience with USAID is preferred. Relevant overseas work experience is preferred.
Native fluency in written and oral English is required.
The incumbent must have English as their first language and have excellent knowledge of English grammar and American word usage and spelling.
The incumbent must demonstrate strong writing and editorial experience.
The incumbent must understand how various social media platforms, including Facebook and website’s function.
The incumbent must possess an understanding of and experience with international development issues. S/he must have mastery of, or ability to use, diverse computer software to produce online and print communications materials, including MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, and a photo editor and graphic illustrator along with some understanding of a web content management application.
Ability to excel in a remote work environment spanning multiple time zones.
Excellent writing/editing skills relevant to speechwriting, media/press relations (e.g., press releases), messaging and talking points, stories, social media content, and other areas relevant to the scope of work outlined above.
Working knowledge of and ability to appropriately implement AP Style, the USAID Style Guide, and USAID branding/marking regulations.
Conversant with the important terminology, concepts, and organizations associated with international development work.
Excellent ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to manage multiple projects and prioritize tight deadlines. The ability to convert planning concepts into firm plans is crucial.
Ability to effectively communicate USAID's development objectives and achievements.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work professionally in a high-stress, multi-cultural team setting with diverse stakeholders.
Demonstrated skills to manage workflows effectively and participate as a solid team member while providing leadership in his/her areas of competence.
Abilities in developing success stories, curating photos, coordinating graphic design, and directing digital communications work are preferred.
Experience with social media platforms, social media content creation, USAID CMS website maintenance, and digital photo editing is preferred.
