[Save the Children] : Livelihood Coordinator

ROLE PURPOSE:


Cargill Tropical Palm (CTP) and Save the Children have a shared vision to improve the lives of palm oil farmers and their communities by improving their quality of life through better access to sanitation and hygiene facilities, additional income to support the main corps and better economic opportunities for youth. The program will be focusing the overall intervention with youth as the agent of change in the community with a target of 40,000 beneficiaries for 3 years of program implementation in Ketapang District of West Kalimantan. The main objectives of this program are:

  1. To increase household income through inclusive and diversified income generating sources/activities.

  2. To leverage the Youth Education program impact by linking the design to the existing Vocational Schools program and Youth program in the village, along with those in Livelihood and WASH program

  3. To improve access to and use of appropriate WASH facilities and infrastructure and behaviour/practices among children, adolescent/youth, farmers families, and wider community member

The post holder will support the Program Manager, Livelihood Advisor, WASH Specialist, WASH Advisor, Head of Education, MEAL Coordinator and other program teams to ensure the high quality of program delivery.

SCOPE OF ROLE:


Reports to: Project Manager Direct Reports: - Dimension: Save the Children works in 10 provinces of Indonesia with the current expenditure of approximately twelve million USD each year.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:


The main responsibility of the Livelihood Coordinator will provide the technical knowledge and support for Save the Children Staff with Its local implementing partners in ensuring the Livelihood integrated interventions for the farmers and community and empowering the youth groups to increase their involvement in transferring knowledge including skill acquisition processes that they could use for working or generating income. The post holder will be accountable to:

  • Together with the Livelihood advisor and MEAL coordinator, conducting the situational analysis of the current context in the targeted population, market assessment for selected commodities or services and utilize to effective programme implementation.

  • Develop network with available stakeholders and or existing ISP (intermediate service provider) of the selected commodities.

  • Together with the Livelihood advisor and Program Manager to develop the strategy and approach to lead Income Generating Activities (IGA), Pilot Model for VSLA (Village Saving and Loan Association), farmer group/ business group mentorship model for Palm-Oil farmer families, including women and youth. This is including to equip local implementing Partners with training tools, modules, guidelines and coaching and mentoring to the targeted beneficiaries.

  • Together with the Education Team and Program Manager to develop the strategy in Youth Education and Empowerment in particular which focus on Soft Skill, Entrepreneurship, and Financial Literacy Programs for Vocational School Students and for Drop-Out or Out of School Youth. This will include equipping local implementing Partners with training tools, modules, guidelines and coaching and mentoring to the targeted beneficiaries.

  • Under the leadership of the Program Manager to link Employee Engagement and Internship Program with Industries (Factories, Farming, Companies, Communities) for a Youth program in Schools and in Communities, with Guidance for Employers / Industry Representatives.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, economic, social development, or other relevant studies. Minimum 3 years of management experience in a contractor, corporate, or NGO environment, including significant field implementation experience.

  • Proven experience in providing technical support to the local implementing partner is preferred.

  • Former working experience in Child Poverty, livelihood and youth employability is preferred.

  • Having experience in the implementation of the Market-Based Programming (MBP) approach is a plus.

  • Having experience in managing youth-life skills programs, both for formal and informal education is a plus

  • Working Experience with the rural communities, particularly in the area of West Kalimantan is a plus.

  • Experience working with an international NGO or similar organization.

  • Solid project management skills with a proven history of delivering results.

  • Ability to analyse information, evaluate options and think and plan strategically.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills Fluency in written and spoken Indonesian, strong English written and spoken skills.

  • Former experiences in providing strategic advice on Child Poverty, livelihood and youth employability with the proven experience in conducting the market assessment, developing modules and guidelines, lead the technical training, etc

  • Commitment to and understanding of Yayasan Sayangi Tunas Cilik aims, values and principles including rights-based approaches.

  • Demonstrated ability to write high-quality reports and other project documents in Indonesian and English
