Job Purpose
Under the general supervision of the head of research department, the junior qualitative
researcher is responsible for performing data collection - both primary and secondary data, and data analysis –especially narrative data, as well as involving in all stages on research process.
Tasks and responsibilities
1. Assist in making Proposal Design, Research Design, Instrument Design;
2. Assist in Literatur review and TOR Research
3. Collect primary and secondary data, and be involved in fieldwork;
4. Conduct data entry;
5. Organize and manage data owned by SMERU;
6. Carry out data analysis;
7. Assist in writing research reports and other types of publications, including policy briefs,
journal articles, and conference papers, based on the data analysis results and
interpretation;
8. Attend seminars, workshops, meetings, and training courses; and
9. Conduct other tasks as required.
Desired Qualifications
1. At least holds a Bachelor’s degree (S1) in Social Sciences or a relevant discipline;
2. A strong interest in conducting qualitative socioeconomic research;
3. Some experience in data collection and field survey;
4. Good ability to use Microsoft word, excel, and power point;
5. Familiarity in managing qualitative data, and ability to use qualitative data processing
tools – such as NVivo – is preferable;
6. Good knowledge of qualitative research methodologies;
7. Excellent communication, interpersonal and interview skills;
8. Good writing skills and able to write academic report and popular article;
9. Ability to coordinate and work in a team;
10. Ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines with minimal supervision; and
11. Fluency in both written and spoken English.
