YOUR POSITION WITH TNC The Community Development Specialict directs some or all aspects of protection, science, stewardship and community relations for a geographic area within a Business Unit (BU) or program. They serves as the principle contact to government agencies, other conservation organizations, foundations and the academic community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The Community Development Specialis is responsible for engaging and supporting communities in natural resource management. They uses the full range of participatory methods, tools, SIGAP and processes to meaningfully engage communities in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the program. They provides administrative and project management support and other general assistance to program staff and consultants working towards the achievement of social objectives, conservation, or stewardship goals. These may include one or more of the following functions:
Develop a strategy to establish a collaboration between communities, government and corporations related to the partnership framework.
Develop cooperation community forest and develop social forestry plan with community and corporation
Mapping competitive commodity, analysis supply chain and business plan community product
Develop planning and implementation capacity building for community farming
Strengthen enterprises institutional at 2 villages
Develop monitoring and evaluation tools to measure the effectiveness of the partnership framework for communities, government, and corporations.
Coordinate with district/provincial government especially community development institution (BPMD/BPMK)
Strengthens relationship with local government in Sanggau and Provincial
Maintain effective working relations with key stakeholders such as government representative, private companies, NGOs, etc.
Facilitate communities and village government to link with government agencies at the different levels, private companies, NGOs, etc.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE
Geographic size and scope is larger than a preserve and smaller than a business unit or overseeing one or more component of the conservation function for entire business unit.
Programmatic scope may require cross-boundary work and relationships.
May Supervises staff at remote locations.
May be responsible for leading or co-leading a whole system program.
Manage multi-disciplinary administrative and professional staff, with responsibility for performance management, training and career development. Establish clear directions and set stretch objectives.
Builds cooperation from outside parties to accomplish program goals
May work in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, on difficult and hazardous terrain and under physically demanding circumstances.
Negotiates complex agreements, in a political environment.
Frequent travel domestically and/or internationally, evening and weekend hours.
Establish and maintain optimal standards of performance for the department or program while controlling costs and administering budgets.
Responsible for ensuring that public and private funds are raised to meet program needs.
Frequently makes independent decision based on analysis, experience, and context.
YKAN may, from time to time, assign the Employee to another location(s) in accordance with the requirements of the Employee’s job description and/or YKAN’s operational needs. The Employee agrees to work in such other work location(s) in Indonesia.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
BA/BS degree and 5 years’ experience in conservation practice or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience managing complex or multiple projects, including managing finances and coordinating the work of other professionals and partners.
Supervisory experience, including motivating, leading, setting objectives and managing performance.
Experience developing partnerships (partners, community, government).
Negotiation skills.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Working knowledge of legal real estate documents.
Working knowledge of current trends and practices in relevant discipline(s) and geographic region(s).
Demonstrated experience collaborating with other parties to obtain different data sources.
Communicating clearly via written, spoken and graphical means in English and other relevant languages.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in economy, forestry, natural resources management, conservation, business, law or another related field of study and 5-7 years’ experience in commodity and supply chain, business plan community forest product, concession management, natural resources management, policy and community empowerment or other related experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred
Experience and knowledge strengthen community village institutional
Experience commodity, supply chain and business plan for community product
Successful experience in developing, directing and managing multiple projects and timelines
Supervisory experience, including ability to motivate, lead, set objectives and manage performance.
