Job Description

Organizational context Indonesia is strongly committed to implementing the SDGs and has integrated them into national development plans and processes, and its commitment to achieving them is reflected in the fact that it has institutionalized roles and responsibilities for their implementation at the country level through a Presidential Decree in 2017. A key challenge is to ensure that continued economic growth becomes more inclusive, including the participation of youth to also effectively support accelerated progress in social and environmental dimensions of sustainable development.

As part of the UN commitment to bringing youth economic empowerment through decent work and employment and as guided by National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2015-2019, UNDP Indonesia ensures to take part in developing youth in Indonesia. As shown in UN Partnership Development Framework (UNPDF) with Government of Indonesia, UN-Government of Indonesia sets youth economic empowerment as its 4th priority. UNDP is supporting government and partners to find innovative solutions to finance the SDGs. UNDP Indonesia established the Innovative Finance Lab (IFLab) in 2017 with the objective to unlock and leverage new finance to close the SDGs financing gap. The Lab focuses on three different but interrelated workstreams, namely Islamic and Blended Finance, Green and Sustainable Finance, and Impact Investments. IFLab also hosted Youth Co:Lab, a youth entrepreneurship initiative to respond to the current government agenda in growing young entrepreneurs.

Youth Co:Lab is a UNDP Asia-Pacific regional programmed that position youth as the leaders to solve region’s critical challenges. Co-created in 2017 by UNDP and the Citi Foundation, Youth Co:Lab aims to establish a common agenda for countries in the Asia-Pacific region to empower and invest in youth to accelerate the implementation of the SDGs through leadership, social innovation and entrepreneurship by developing young people’s modern skills and by catalyzing and sustaining youth-led startups and social enterprises across the region.

The National UN Volunteer will be posted in the IFLab office to support the implementation of Youth Co:Lab Indonesia, and more broadly to empower vulnerable groups (women, youth, etc) through capacity building as well as facilitating access to finance for MSMEs business development.

Task description Under the direct supervision of the Head of Innovative Financing Lab and Technical Coordinator of Impact Investing, the national UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Support day-to-day project implementation including liase with key partners.

  • Create and maintain stakeholders database;

  • Assist in communication with relevant stakeholders and partners.

  • Provision of support in organization of events/workshops/seminars,

  • Organize and regularly update project database of meetings, workshops, seminars, trainings, etc.

  • Participate and assist in the events/seminars/workshops, including preparation of ToRs and development of meeting notes, communication materials, and publications

  • Assist in development of project’s reports

  • Assist in translating and proof-reading of reports and other documents.

  • Contribute to the development of new pipelines on IFL as part of the project

  • Assist in partnership and communication with project partners

  • Perform other duties/functions as assigned by Project management.

  • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

Results/Expected Outputs As an active UNDP team member, efficient, timely, responsive, client-friendly and high-quality support rendered to UNDP and its beneficiaries in the accomplishment of her/his functions, including:

  • Effectively organized events/workshops/seminars and other outreach initiatives

  • Regular reports on progress and completion of activities assigned

  • Mission reports including activities, findings and recommendations

  • Project and stakeholder’s database regularly updated and maintained

  • Strong communication and partnership with certain stakeholders are maintained

  • Communications products in various platforms (press releases, newsletters, short story, brochure, leaflet, infograph, video, etc) are produced

  • Contribution to the development of new pipelines.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications This is a national UN Volunteer assignment, therefore only nationals of Indonesia and legal residents with a residency permit, are eligible to apply. Application deadline: 21-Oct-2021

Education

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, such as international relations, business, economics, finance, development; or related fields;

  • Demonstrated interest in development cooperation, youth empowerment, innovation, economic empowerment, partnership, or youth entrepreneurship.

Experience

  • Experience working in the area of social entrepreneurship, youth development, or SDG-related projects would be an asset;

  • Experience in working and liaison with government officials is strongly preferable;

  • Previous experience as a volunteer or intern would be highly regarded.

Area of Expertise Requirement

  • Strong data management skills and an eye for detail is highly required

  • Development programme/project administration

  • Resource mobilization, partnership, and donor coordination

  • Community participation and development

National UN Volunteer Conditions of Service The position will be based in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, where basic living needs, including accommodation, banking facilities, medical facilities, and telecommunications/internet services are readily available. All staple foods can be found in the markets, e.g.: rice, meat, vegetables, fruit, cooking oil, salt, etc. As this is a national UN Volunteer assignment, the UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials in the duty station. National UN Volunteers are part of the insurance plan (medical, life, permanent disability), including recognized the primary family unit (dependents) if applicable.

  • National UN Volunteer Specialist receives approximately IDR 8,237,403.08 as a Monthly Living Allowance.

  • Provided with assignment travel cost (if applicable) and entry lumpsum.

  • Enrolled in health, life, disability insurance.

  • Applicable dependents (primary family unit, up to 3) are eligible for health insurance.

  • Entitled to annual leave, 2.5 days per month.

  • Provided with resettlement allowance to support transition at the end of the assignment.
