Mission and objectives
The United Nations Resident Coordinator Office supports the work of the UN Resident Coordinator. The UN Resident Coordinator leads the UN country team in consultations with the Government to define and agree on the UN strategic response to the Government’s development priorities. This response is captured in the UN Partnership for Development Framework (UNPDF) .
The UNPDF is a medium term results framework that describes the collective vision and response of the UN system to national development priorities. The UNPDF describes how the UN country team contributes to the achievement of development results based on a common country analysis and the UN comparative advantage. Currently, the UN framework of work for Indonesia is under the 2016-2020 UNPDF.
The office coordinates activities related to common programming including Agenda 2030, joint programmes, joint programming activities and development coordination work. This is done in conformity with the objectives and priorities of the Government, and the mandates and objectives of the United Nations agencies.
The UN Resident Coordinator Office has five core functions:
1. Strategic Planning
2. Economics
3. Partnerships and development finance
4. Data and results management and reporting
5. Communications and advocacy
Context
The Resident Coordinator’s Office with its current structure is well-positioned to provide strategic and operational coordination support for development partners to achieve efficiency and optimal use of limited resources against priorities.
The Resident Coordinator’s Office provides the necessary support, analysis and information to allow the RC to co-chair key coordination fora by identifying priorities and setting agendas. The RC can take the lead on common issues that require the UN Country Team to speak with one voice and present a common position and/or view. On this basis, the Resident Coordinator’s Office is also positioned to strengthen collaboration within and between development partners and promote more comprehensive and multi-faceted programming and use of technical expertise. Partnerships are critical to leveraging all the interests, knowledge and resources necessary to achieve collective results.
The Programme Officer will work within the Resident Coordinator’s Office, reporting to the Head of the RCO, to support inter-agency coordination.
Task description
Under the direct supervision of the Head of the RCO, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
Establish schedules for items on the UN Country Team work plan to be dealt with at the UNCT meetings. Prepare and follow up on UN Country Team and Crisis Management Team and other meetings such as UNCT retreats.
Organize and support activities related to the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework.
Contribute to the preparation and follow-up to the Government – UN coordination mechanisms to monitor the implementation of the UNSDC.
Ensure that progress in the UN Reform at the country level are documented and disseminated.
Serve as RCO focal point in one or more thematic working groups.
Support the RCO in the engagement with International Development Partners, civil society organizations, human rights organizations and defenders, as well update and maintain of the contact database and profiles.
Apply, integrate and document systematically Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) perspective in all activities throughout the assignment.

- Candidates must be Korean nationals.
- Candidates who have already served as UN Volunteer Specialist funded by Korea are not eligible to apply.

Living conditions and remarks
The position will be based in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, where basic living needs, including accommodation, banking facilities, medical facilities and telecommunications/internet services are readily available.
All staple foods can be found in the markets, e.g.: rice, meat, vegetables, fruit, cooking oil, salt, etc. Many imported goods are available in Jakarta and other places throughout Indonesia.
In Indonesia the most used means of transportation are taxi or local bus. Internet service is readily available and affordable at most apartment complexes. ATMs are everywhere in Indonesia and cards can usually be used to withdraw Indonesian Rupiah.
