ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

Plan International has worked in Indonesia since 1969 and has officially become Yayasan Plan International Indonesia (Plan Indonesia) in 2017. We work to fight for the fulfillment of children’s rights and the equality of girls. Plan Indonesia implements its activities through four programs namely, Child Development and Protection, Adolescent Health and Agency, Youth Employment and Entrepreneurship, and Humanitarian and Emergency Response. We work in 7 provinces, including East Nusa Tenggara, West Nusa Tenggara, Central Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, DKI Jakarta, Central Java and West Java, with a target to empower 1 million girls. Furthermore, Plan Indonesia also sponsored 36.000 girls and boys in East Nusa Tenggara.


ABOUT THE ASSIGNMENT

Digital Communication Assistant Consultant will create digital communication/ social media content and administer social media channels under the supervision of Digital Communication Specialist and Media and Communications Manager of Yayasan Plan International Indonesia (Plan Indonesia). The incumbent will work alongside Youth Engagement and Campaign Specialist, Communications Team, to help implementing effective digital campaigns aligned with influencing objectives as well as Plan Indonesia’s communication guidelines.


The incumbent will work closely with Communications Team, Advocacy Team and Resource and Mobilization Team to create digital campaign content production (e.g. motion graphic, video, infographic and social media post) and ensure that the campaign message is effectively reach targeted audience and contribute to social media growth. S/he needs to understand Plan Indonesia’s brand guidelines and be responsible to ensure all programme’s communication materials and events are in line with Plan Indonesia’s brand guidelines. The job holder will contribute to the communication outreach and campaign report.


OBJECTIVES of the ASSIGNMENT

As part of the national communication team, the job holder will also play a significant role to contribute to the development of a national communication plan. She/he will contribute to the target of the communication team in terms of outreach and visibility of the organisation to a targeted audience. The person will work together with other program staff to develop effective social media and mass media campaigns to help increase Plan Indonesia’s brand visibility and showcase the organization’s works to the public and key stakeholders.

Last but not least, the job holder will be part of a national campaign movement that will be led by communication and influencing department. She/he will contribute to plan and implement flagship campaigns at the national level such as Girls Get Equal, International Day of the Girls, International Women’s Day, National Children Day, etc.


DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITES

  • This position reports to the Digital Communication Specialist

  • Act as administrator for all Plan Indonesia Social Media Channels (Instagram, Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, TikTok, Youtube, Website) and support to oversee other social media channels owned by Plan Indonesia (GLAIndonesia, Kitakerja.id, Jel.tim, YHPIndonesia)

  • Produce social media contents for campaign and influencing agenda

  • Contribute to national communication plan to achieve target outreach and visibility of the organisation to a targeted audience

  • Support to develop social media report

  • Support to develop yearly and monthly editorial plan

  • Work multimedia specialist to produce social media content that address campaign and influencing aspirations and showcase the good practices in the forms of success stories, human-interest stories, factsheets, videos, illustrated content, etc.

  • Work together with Multimedia Specialist, Resource and Mobilisation Team, and Digital Communications Specialist to publish project communication products and activities in Plan Indonesia digital media channels

  • Support communication and influencing department to organize/arrange national campaign initiatives (IDG, GGE, national children day, etc) at the local level.

  • Ensure all social media contents comply with Plan Indonesia’s brand guidelines and communication protocol.

KEY DELIVERABLES


Expected deliverables by the Consultant within the contract period are as follows:

1. Promote YPII to become social media trendsetter on girls’ rights issues using digital communications platforms (owned, paid, earned and shared media)

  1. YPII spokespersons become the go-to expert for media on girls’ rights issues

  2. Track and respond to feedbacks (comments, likes, etc) on social media using appropriate and consulted messages

  3. Administer day to day social media management

  4. YPII key messages are amplified by Key Opinion Leaders through social media channels & public events

  5. Identify influencers/KOL to engage on social media together with Digital Communication Specialist

  6. Support KOL relations from background check to maintain KOL Engagement

  7. Support assistance to develop social media activation plan and partnership with external parties, e.g. social media companies, corporates, influencers

  8. Assist influencer engagement initiative/project jointly with project or fundraising team

  9. Increased reach and followers on YPII social media channels

  10. Update website and social media regularly with strong key message and interactive content to the audience

  11. Provide assistance to oversee social media channels owned by Plan Indonesia (Plan Indonesia, GLAIndonesia, Kitakerja.id, Jel.tim, YHPIndonesia)

  12. Track and observe new social media tools & their applications, and constantly spot and utilize social media trends

(2) Ensure high quality of social media content to influence targeted audience to boost based on Plan’s key message

  1. Success stories/ research findings/ campaign messages are developed into the right IEC products according to the targeted audience

  2. Assist in all phases of social media activity, from observing trends and preferences, brainstorming, planning, to execution, including yearly editorial plan and monthly editorial plan

  3. Provide copywriting for online and offline campaign and promotional materials and assist with proofreading or editing other content before publishing

  4. Gather social media insight and analysis on what content works well on Plan’s platforms

  5. Ensure all communication materials produced are organized, stored and easily accessed

  • IEC products are disseminated and promoted effectively through the right channels according to the targeted audience

  • Schedule and publish all posts to the various networks (Linkedin, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and TikTok)

  • Support IEC production for internal and external audience (content, context, and guideline)

  • Develop social media content on priority issues to respond to relevant momentum (IDG, IWD, Hari Anak Nasional, Hari Cuci Tangan Sedunia, etc

  • Update YPII Website with approved content

  • Regularly tract website analytics (Google Analytics and JetPack)

  • All communication products are consistent with Plan International, Inc. Global Standard on Brand and associated Brand Manual

  • Develop copywriting and content of YPII highlighted works to be published at GH and APAC Platform

  • Update approved communication products and publications available on Plan International Platforms

  • Provide materials for monthly newsletter of YPII

(3) Maintain trend of brand awareness within targeted market and demography through digital communications platforms (owned, paid, earned and shared media)

  1. Urban and middle-upper society are aware and interested about YPII program impact and campaign

  2. Provide copies and support key visual brief for social media editorial plan that showcase highlighted works of YPII to key partners

  3. Develop social media information card containing killer fact which potentially attracts public stakeholders for further engagement

  4. Support public events in collaboration with Fundraising team to explore new audiences

  • YPII campaigns are acknowledged by key partners (i.e. government, donor agencies, corporates, influencers, youth network)

  • Develop social media campaign content according to the targeted audience.

  • Assist to update social media editorial plan for all platforms (TikTok, Twitter, FB, IG)

  • Create social media campaigns and update social media content through all platforms (TikTok, FB, IG, Twitter)

  • YPII teams and staffs to become communicators and influencers for Girls’ rights campaign

  • Promote campaign through owned channels

  • Share promotional collaterals to Plan’s staffs

DURATION of the ASSIGNMENT The duration of the assignment is 22 November 2021- 29 April 2021

KEY PRINCIPLES, APPROACH AND ETHICAL CONSIDERATION

Plan Indonesia’s Staff and Consultant must adhere to Plan International’s Child and Youth Safeguarding and Protection. The consultant must follow Ethical Principles for involving human subjects in a research and obtain written/ verbal consent from the human subjects. Permission from elder must be sought if the children under 18 years old are involved as subjects. Signed informed consent of each child and his/her parents need to take after explaining purpose of the study and its usage. Induction on this matter will be part of the training provided for the team.


All the projects managed by Plan Indonesia and its partners, should also aligned with Plan International global ambition to reach 100 million girls, using gender transformative approach in delivering its tasks. In this assignment, the consultant/ vendor is expected to apply gender transformative approach through addressing gender norms, strengthening girls’ and young women’s agency, advancing girls’ and women’s condition and position, working with boys and men to embrace gender equality, responding to the needs and interest of girls and boys in all their diversity, and fostering an environment that enables gender equality and girls’ rights.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education:

  • University degree in Communications or related fields

Experience:

  • Between 1-2 years of professional experience in social media

  • Excellent skilled in popular writing and editing both in Indonesian and English

  • Have good sense of art in graphic design and photography

  • Experience working for NGO / non-profit sector is preferred

  • Experience in the implementation and execution of communications and digital campaign strategy

  • Excellent interpersonal communications skills

  • Experience using advanced tools for online publishing, including content management systems and social media authoring tools like SocialFlow, Hootsuite or TweetDeck.

  • Basic experience using social media listening tools such as Brand24, SproutSocial, Google Analytics, etc

Knowledge and Skill:

  • Basic capacity to produce, edit and disseminate multimedia content for online audiences ideally for youth, media outlets or other international institutions.

  • Ability to work in sensitive and fast-moving news, communications, advocacy and/or fundraising contexts.

  • Good interpersonal skill and team work

  • Strong communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • Excellent time management skills

  • Good networking with relevant institutions

  • Understand about human right and child right

  • Good in English (both speaking and writing)

  • Proven working experience with the community, government, private sector.

  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Knowledge of the digital content production process is desirable.

  • Experience in photo and video editing as well as illustration is preferred

  • Good understanding about marketing communication concept and practices

  • Ability to travel national or overseas up to 90 days annually, sometimes at short notice
